Driving Course – Class 5 – Available as of March 2023

The Conseil scolaire Centre-Est (CSCE) announces a new feature for its driving school.

For the past 5 years, the CSCE driving school has been offering training for bus drivers, the Alberta Level 2 license, which includes MELT training.

As of March 1, 2023, the CSCE driving school will also be able to offer training for novice drivers, i.e. the Alberta level 5 license. Therefore, we will be able to offer driving courses to our students who request them, organized in a schedule of theory and practical courses established for each school community.  Students who successfully complete the course will also receive 1 credit towards their high school diploma.

Because this is a service offered by the CSCE, parents will have to pay a $50 registration fee per child who registers and then pay Alberta Registries for the licensing fee itself (approximately $150).

We will continue to rely on Troy Gratton, Guidance and Student Engagement Counsellor, to coordinate and supervise this course under the umbrella of Josée Verreault, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services.

An online registration form will be developed and the link will be distributed in January.

The CSCE will thus become one of the first school boards to offer both the Alberta Level 2 and Level 5 license training!  Although this service could also be offered to the community at large, the programming established for CSCE students will always take priority.
