New satellite radio system installed on our school buses
Stop for flashing red lights. Teach your child that traffic must stop when a school bus has its flashing red lights activated.
Know the danger zones. Ensure your child understands the areas around the bus where the driver may not be able to see them and to stay out of these zones whenever possible.
Be on time. Arrive at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.
Practice safe bus stop behaviour. Wait a safe distance from the road, avoid horseplay, and line up calmly.
Follow the bus driver’s instructions.Reinforce that the driver is responsible for everyone’s safety and their directions must always be followed.
Cross safely.If your child must cross the road, remind them to wait for the driver’s signal and look both ways before crossing.
Keep transportation information up to date. Inform the school of any changes to your child’s transportation arrangements or emergency contact information.
