The Interim Professional Certificate is valid for three years. Once expired, another Interim Professional Certificate can be issued upon recommendation of a school board.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Permanent Professional Certificate<\/strong> is issued upon reception of a recommendation from a school authority proving that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The teacher has successfully completed two years of teaching; and<\/li>\n<li>The teacher got evaluated twice on his or her knowledge, skills and quality needed for a permanent certificate, as set out in the standards of quality for teachers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>People who wish to teach in Alberta must complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/teacher-certification.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>an online request for a teaching certificate<\/strong><\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>APPLICATION FEES &#8211; TEACHING CERTIFICATE<\/h2>\n<p>Application fees depend on where the teaching program was completed:<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Alberta (graduated in Alberta)<\/td>\n<td>$200<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Canada or The United States (outside of the province)<\/td>\n<td>$225<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Outside of Canada or The United States<\/td>\n<td>$250<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><em><br \/>\nApplication fees are non-refundable.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Once your certificate application is complete, the process can take up to 60 business days, depending on the requirements for Teacher Certification, as well as the time that you took to submit the necessary documents and the time that it takes to review your file (including credential assessment).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;62px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_wp_custommenu nav_menu=&#8221;101&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] Teachers must obtain a valid teaching authorization before being able to teach in Alberta and be hired by a school board.
